1. What data I collect
When you sign up for my email list, I collect:
- Your email address
- Your first name (and last name if provided)
- Your city
- Your state/province/etc (if applicable)
- Your ZIP code (US only)
- Your IP address and timestamp at signup (for consent verification)
- Your consent to receive emails
2. How I use your data
I use your data to:
- Send you email updates about shows, projects, and other comedy-related news
- Segment my list geographically so I can email people near a specific venue
- Comply with legal obligations (proof of consent)
3. Geocoding services
From your ZIP code or city selection, I derive approximate latitude/longitude for geographic segmentation.
For US-based subscribers, I use Nominatim (an API for OpenStreetMap) to convert your ZIP code into an approximate latitude/longitude.
For other subscribers, I use Photon (another API for OpenStreetMap) to convert just your city data into an even more approximate latitude/longitude.
I take ZIP code for US-based subscribers only because:
- I'm a US-based comedian,
- Other countries' ZIP codes often locate your exact block, and I'm a non‑creepy US‑based comedian.

4. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in MailWizz (email marketing software) on DigitalOcean servers managed by Cloudways. Emails are sent through SMTP2GO. I do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR (for EU-based subscribers), and under Me Being Reasonable (for all other subscribers), you have the right to:
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email. When you unsubscribe, I keep your information in case you wish to resubscribe later. No data is deleted.
- Request permanent deletion of your personal data. To do this, submit this form with "Delete my data" in the subject line. I will remove all your information from my system within 30 days. If you resubscribe after deletion, you will need to provide your information again.
- Request access to the data I hold about you (same form).
6. How long I keep your data
- If you unsubscribe but do not request deletion, I keep your data indefinitely so you can resubscribe without re-entering your information. I also add your email address to a suppression list, so no one else can sign you up again as a prank.
- If you request deletion, I permanently remove all your personal data from my system.
- If you remain subscribed, I keep your data until you request deletion.
